Dry Eye

Are your eyes constantly bothering you? If you have any of these symptoms, you may have dry eyes.

  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Blurring of vision
  • Too much tearing
  • A gritty or sandy feeling

An estimated 1 out of every 5 Americans suffers from dry eye disease. Some causes of dry eye include medication side effects, contact lenses, environment, refractive surgery, hormones, and inflammation.
Dry eye is a chronic disease that may have been developing for many years before it became symptomatic. It should be treated early and aggressively to get the disease under control. Dry eyes can lead to corneal problems, infections, contact lens intolerance, and decreased visual acuity.

At your Comprehensive Exam, your Doctor can discuss your eye symptoms. The next step would be to have a Dry Eye Exam for tear film testing and treatment option suggestions.
